ccording to fashion experts, purple is the color you'll definitely want to add to your fall/winter 2008 wardrobe, and a wrap or scarf is the hottest accessory item around.
Well, it just so happens that purple is my favorite color, and my collection of wraps didn't include one in what's considered the most popular color of the season. How could this be? Since I'm always looking for another knitting project, I decided to do the obvious -- knit a purple wrap.
I wanted to knit it using a lightweight, wool yarn without a lot of fuzz, and, once knitted with large needles, I wanted it to have the elegant drape you look for in a warm, cozy wrap.
One day, while browsing among the yummy, irresistible fibers at Artisan Knitworks in Grosse Pointe Park, I came across a yarn I knew would work -- Green Mountain Spinnery's Mountain Mohair in blue violet. What I liked most about the yarn was its heathered affect with flecks of lavender and cranberry throughout.
