Knitting ... and knitting ... and knitting ... and ... from Medina County Gazette
My friend went to visit her sister and while there was introduced to knitting with a small lap loom. It fascinated her so much she immediately began making lovely scarves for all her grandchildren. Upon her return to Ohio, she shared her latest project with me, suspecting I, too, would take great delight in producing such lovely items with so little effort.
Sure enough, I was impressed and willing to give it a try. Off we went to the store to purchase a loom and enough yarn to whet my appetite for this intriguing new (to me) pastime. I reasoned it would be a good diversion, a relaxing activity I could turn to when I needed a short break. At the time, I had no idea 16 inches of snow soon would render us housebound for an extended weekend. Ah, the beauty of undisturbed snow as seen from the cozy indoor warmth of home.
My gift of a free weekend abounded in opportunities. I could not decide what to do first. I was able to get in some serious food preparation time, fixing those slow-cooking roasts and soups that make the house smell so inviting. Next, I attacked a few long overdue cleaning projects, but as happy as I was to have them done, my attention drifted from that activity rather quickly. Surely there is more to life than scrubbing.
