or those of us who love to knit one and purl two, there has been some buzzing around town recently. To the joy of knitters, a yarn store has opened in downtown San Clemente, officially on Jan. 3.
An avid knitter since age 18, I have long dreamed of opening one of these specialty stores. But about a year ago, I gave up that thought. I finally admitted I wouldn't be good at it – I have trouble committing to anything long term.
So, I tip my knitted chapeau to Christine Chesley, 49, for having the courage and wisdom to open Strands Knitting Studio, 111 Avenida Granada. Stopping by her beautiful shop, which is stocked with a gourmet of colorful yarns, I watched several women from Laguna Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente click their needles while building friendships. Taking a workshop break, Christine talked to me about her new shop:
