Knitting a popular way to beat stress from WisInfo
A new hobby is becoming all the rage among people of all ages — knitting.
For De Pere resident Dana Bald, 39, knitting is very meditative.
"I can let the rhythm of the needles take over and just relax," Bald said. "In fact, if I go more than a couple of days without knitting or crocheting, I can tell that it affects my mood."
Green Bay resident Emily Bielinski, 21, began knitting when she was 17, and said it was something she had always wanted to do.
"We are a society that really stresses competition, therefore we lose time to be ourselves because we are focused on climbing the social ladder," Bielinski said. "Knitting brings out your individuality; every color, every stitch and every project is a glimpse to who you are as a person. For me, when I am knitting with the girls, there are no worries; it is my time to relax. I can be myself and not worry who has the best project."
