Knitting for a cause, and to stay awake

A group of self-titled Knit Wits in North Naples have needled so many soft blankets and booties, they’re having a hard time finding homes for them.
At Caribbean Mobile Home Park last Tuesday, a handful of female retirees in the group assembled for an hour to catch up on the latest gossip in the adult community’s club house last week. And knit, of course.
The club started about four years ago, when the women handed out knitted socks with poems attached to each member of their community. They asked for pennies. A penny for how many window openings you have in your home. A penny for your birthday. And with that, their yarn club was started.
